潍坊风筝节一般在每年4月的第三个周六举行，即4月20日至25日之间。自1984年开始举办以来，潍坊国际风筝节已经连续举办了二十二届，吸引着大批中外风筝专家和爱好者及游人前来观赏、竞技和游览。潍坊国际风筝节以“风筝牵线、文体搭台、经贸唱戏”的模式被全国各地广为借鉴。
