亲故在韩国是“朋友”的意思，但只有同一年出生的人才能称为亲故。韩语（又称韩国语）是朝鲜半岛的原生语言，属于黏着语，历史上曾用汉字标记，并且将汉语融入其词汇，1443年世宗大王创造出与韩语语法高度吻合的韩文字母。根据《韩语文协会》调查，韩语的54%是固有词，35%是汉字词，6%是外来词。在韩国关系再亲密不是同龄的也不能叫朋友。
